The 5th VLEC Launches at Jiangnan Shipyard
2025/04/22
  • Pacific Gas (Hong Kong) Holdings Ltd. ('Pacific Gas') has achieved a milestone with the successful undocking of its fifth very large ethane carrier (VLEC) at Jiangnan Shipyard, paving the way for its delivery to Swiss chemical giant INEOS.

  • Pacific Gas's newbuilding supervision team worked in close collaboration with Jiangnan Shipyard, scientifically planning and executing the construction schedule. As a result, the dock-out target, defined by the "531+N" criteria (including zero pending items before launching, piping systems hydro test completion and generator readiness) was achieved ahead of schedule. The on-time launching keeps the vessel firmly on track for delivery in 2025 and it is set to redefine eco-conscious gas transport upon entry into INEOS' transatlantic trade.

  • The vessel features Jiangnan's proprietary BrilliancE® Type B containment system and measures 230 meters in length, 22.5 meters in depth, with a 36.6-meter beam. Powered by ethane dual-fuel main engine and shaft generator, it meets IMO's Phase IV EEDI requirements, reducing sulfur emissions by 99% and carbon oxides by 18% compared to conventional designs, achieving full compliance with the maritime industry's strictest environmental regulations while maintaining optimal economic performance.
