The 5th VLEC Completes Sea Trials Ahead of Delivery
2025/07/04
  • The Pacific Ineos Hofsa (H2647), the fifth 99,000-cbm very large ethane carrier (VLEC) built for Pacific Gas (Hong Kong) Holdings Ltd. ('Pacific Gas'), has wrapped up six days of sea trials, marking a critical step toward its imminent delivery.

  • Since construction began at Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai in April 2024, the vessel has undergone comprehensive testing, including maneuverability assessments, anchor load verification, system-wide alarm checks, and main engine performance monitoring. All tests have confirmed its operational readiness and full compliance with international standards. Throughout the construction phase, Pacific Gas's on-site newbuilding supervision team worked in close coordination with Jiangnan Shipyard to optimize workflows, enforce strict quality control, and manage resources efficiently, accelerating key milestones and significantly reducing the construction timeline during critical phases, including platform assembly and dock outfitting.

  • Upon delivery, the Pacific Ineos Hofsa will enter service for INEOS Group, bolstering Pacific Gas's ethane transportation capabilities and reinforcing its competitive position in the global gas shipping market.
